Asad Hasan Sahir

Professor, IIT Ropar

Dr. Asad Sahir is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA and his previous experiences includes working with the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Golden, CO, and with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s Corporate R&D Centre in Greater Noida.

Dr. Sahir’s research interests include renewable and conventional sources of energy, process systems engineering (modeling, optimization, and control), carbon capture utilization and storage, and energy efficiency in the built environment.

Dr. Sahir is also a member of the Technical Advisory Board at The Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), Bengaluru. Recently he has been awarded the 2022 Society of Women Engineers We Local Engaged Advocate Award for contributing to the advancement or acceptance of women in engineering and has served as a Faculty Advisor for Solar Decathlon US and India student teams which have been finalists (2021-23). Dr. Sahir also served as the first Head – Professional Development, for the Career Development and Corporate Relations Centre (now known as Career Development and Placement Cell) at IIT Ropar.
