Prof. Jay Dhariwal

Professor, IIT Delhi

Prof. Jay Dhariwal is currently working as an assistant professor at IIT Delhi. He teaches integrated functional prototyping (involving mechatronics, IoT, and data science). Before joining IIT Delhi, Prof. Dhariwal worked as a research fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engg., University of Leeds, Leeds, UK, and Dept. of Architecture, MIT, Cambridge, USA. He pursued his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, master’s from Purdue University, and graduated from IIT Guwahati Research and practice-wise, he has an interest in working in the area of “Design for health and wellness in the built environment”. He is presently working on understanding the nexus between air quality (outdoors and indoors), thermal discomfort due to heat stress (outdoors and indoors), and energy sustainability. His present projects are about developing low-cost sensor networks for air pollution monitoring, Urban Heat Island Effect assessment using sensors and remote sensing, spatio-temporal understanding of indoor air quality, estimating indoor environment quality in prisons, and R&D of medical devices in airway management.
