Anil Ananthaswamy is a renowned science writer, author, and former deputy news editor at New Scientist. His writing, spanning physics, neuroscience, quantum theory, AI, and cosmology, has appeared in Quanta, Scientific American, Nature, Discover, and other leading publications. He is the author of four acclaimed books: The Edge of Physics (2010), The Man Who Wasn’t There (2015), Through Two Doors at Once (2018), and Why Machines Learn (2024).

His work has been recognised by Physics World, Smithsonian, Forbes, and the PEN/E O Wilson Literary Science Writing Awards, among others. He worked as a software engineer before transitioning to science writing. He was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT (2019–20), and currently teaches an annual science journalism workshop at the National Centre for Biological Sciences in Bengaluru.
